we are going cruising from Florida to the exumas .
we purchased a Single side band receiver so we could listen to Chris Parkers weather forecasts !
We can't figure out how to operate it ? We read the directions and got nowhere ?? ! we stretched the antenna out 20 feet etc. we got ZIP ! Yes new batterys we can get AM and FM on it but no SSB ! HOW ???????:banged: Lee Nicholas /WindRose fla
Unplug any mains power if connected.
Sit outside in cockpit.
On left hand side of radio 'Attenuator' 'off'
Right hand side of radio 'Norm...SSB' to SSB. 'LSB - USB' slider to USB
Direct enter frequency.
Not what I would expect but voice is better on SSB when I set 'Tone' to 'Music'.
The 'Fine Tuning' wheel top right is a bit of a trap...
While not marked to show where 'centre' is you need to centre it to be on frequency... if you rotate and count the smooth bits there are 6 between hard left and hard right... so move to 3 from either end.
Hope that makes sense.
Bear in mind that there are some locations where you will not have a good signal from anybody (Nassau comes to mind). If you can't get good reception with the previous suggestions, try taking the radio somewhere else at the scheduled time.
