Shannon HPS 53/57

Does anyone know anything about these boats other than the company's literature? Very nice looking, shallow draft, less heeling and cat like layout. But....how do they sail? I like everything about the Shannon, but the hull is a new concept and I'm just curious about how it holds up and sails. Thanks!

Regarding the Shannon: "Beauty is [most definitely] in the eye of the beholder."

Re: Shannon HPS 53/57

Smaller than you asked about, but I think the 38 HPS is a pretty good looking pilot-house: A Motorsailer, Pilot House, Shoal Water Sailboat

I'm also quite curious what people think of their sailing performance. The 38 has a 165hp motor(!?)

Maybe start your own thread and ask the question.

- because while there is quite a size difference, the boats are very similar in their unique attributes and in the sales literature at the Shannon site. I'd think comments regarding either would be apples to apples.

...since you asked ~

Skipper 65 started the thread to ask the forum about a boat he was interested in, I think it would be more appropriate for you to start your own thread.
I am interested in hearing about both these boats but they deserve their own post.

It's my understanding that while Shannon's are well-respected, there aren't many of them out there. Especially not many of the HPS's.

While I agree it would be nice to hear feedback separately, I'm willing to wager you that we won't hear from more than a couple HPS owners of any size -

So umm, any actual HPS knowledgeable folks willing to comment on their sailing ability?

Re: Shannon HPS 53/57

Can't comment on their sailing ability but I boarded one under construction at the Shannon yard in June. All I can saw is, WOW! It definitely feels like a catamaran aboard. In fact, the Shannon folks refer to them as monomarans.

If you are interested in buying one call Bill Ramos at the Shannon yard. He is a super nice guy and a boat wizard.

Re: Shannon HPS 53/57

Sondor asked a good question comparing the 38 to the 53/56, and there are probably more 38 experiences out there to respond, versus the 53/56, so I'd like to hear about any 38HPS sailing experiences too. Daysgoneby.....relax, it'll be alright.

Re: Shannon HPS 53/57

Still interested in anyone’s experience (direct or indirect) who knows how the Shannon HPS performs. Really like the design and features, but it’s such an usual boat that I’m curious if there has been any problems or issues with performance or the boat itself? Thanks
