Settling on Brand

I'm pulling the trigger on moving onto a sailboat. My price range tops off at 100k. I’ve looked at Catalina, Hunter and Jeanneau. I want to live on it and luxury isn’t what I want to pay for. What brand is "plain Jane?" 34 foot'ish or so is what I'm shopping for. I want used when attempting this.

Catalina, Hunter, Beneteau, and Jeanneau might all be considered "value" brands, roughly fitting your criteria.

I would go for an older monohull that has lots of cruising gear on board. Maybe you can find someone coming off a cruise. The cost of basic cruising gear - radios, anchors, chain, spare sails, radar, gps, and a thousand other things can quickly add up to the value of a used boat. You can get a lot of bang for your buck on a well-equipped older cruising yacht.
