Seafarer 26 info?

Anybody got any info (good or bad) on this boat?

It has a Yanmar (YS8B I believe) engine.

I know the company went belly up back in '85 but I was wondering how the boat is.

As I remeber there has been a few oceans crossings with the boat. They were strong and well built.

I have a friend that has one. He likes it for the most part. He changed the mast step to a hinged one to make it easier to trailer sail. He also claimed that it was pretty slow in light air. For a 26' boat with a inboard and a wheel it has a lot of room. His has a lot of stress cracks but he claimed that they were due to think gelcoat. His has the little 1 cyl Yanmar and he seemed to think it was adaquate. It shook like a dog s#*tt*ng peach seeds at idle but smoothed up nicely above idle.

I think the only structural problems he had was with the rudder which he had to rebuild.

If the price is right go for it

I saw the boat this weekend. I passed on it. It seems that pictures make anything look nice.

Are you certain of that? I've seen yours, and you've probably seen mine (avatars).
