Sea of Cortez Crime

Will be spending part of our winter in the Sea of Cortez and have been reading how the crime rates have spiked radically in the last 2 years since we have last visited . Anybody down there able to provide first hand accounts . We don’t plan on being around Cabo at all but La Paz north

Re: Sea of Cortez Crime

What kind of crime? I have spent the last 6 years based out of La Paz. A few years ago there was a spike in narco-related crimes, but that seems to have settled down. Usually narco on narco shooting. As far as crime against gringos or cruisers, it is virtually nonexistent.

Marinas are safe and secured, and anchorages are totally safe. You can stroll down the Malecon (boardwalk) at 2:00am by yourself with no worries. I've done it many times. Keep your eyes open, don't flash cash or jewelry, and you'll be safer than in most cities in the USA.

Look me up when you get down there. I'm in Marina de La Paz, slip #229.

Cheers, Bill

Nope....just isn't an issue.

Look me up at La Paz Cruisers Supply in Marina Palmira and I'll take you on a Taco Tour of La Paz

Re: Sea of Cortez Crime

The last time we locked our boat up is when we were in San Diego 2 years ago. Have never felt a need in Mexico.
