Re: Scrapping Boat . . . Recycling Keel

If it helps any. I have found a chainsaw cuts led like it was butter. Lead will bind the blade if you use a regular saw with little saw kerf. Save the metal shavings on a sheet of plywood. There will be a lot of them.

It should be a mornings work to cut the keel out of the boat and and buck it up into manageable blocks. Keep the blade clear of the attachment bolts embedded in the lead
Lead has a good value here. We melt our extra lead into 10# or 12# fishing wieghts that can sell from $35 to $45 each retail.

The sawsall fitted with a long carbide blade will slice through a figreglass hull quite easily. Have fun.

I thought about going to a landfill and they'll help my boat off the trailer into the dump, however would they help me load the keel back up? The keel weighs 2600lbs i believe.

Ray I sent you a pM as well.. I know people looking for G26 parts.

Hope you still have this.

Donate it to the boy scouts, girl guides or whoever will take it. You should get a tax receipt out of it as a charitable donation.
