Santana 25'

Anyone own or have information on a Santana 25' Sloop?

Santana 25

If you are talking about the Santana 525, I have raced and sailed one years ago. Took one from San Francisco to San Diego on a race (although I would not necessarily recommend it). Let me know what your questions are.

Santana 25

We had a dark brown Santana 25 on our lake called Coffee break.
It was an average 25 foot boat probably nicer than the San Juan 24, similar to the US 25 and the C&C 25. If you are talking about the Santana 525 we have about 20 of them locally. They are a wide beam flying saucer shape that is fine for light air lake sailing. They are not the best in waves. These boats are a good Wednesday night race boat but I would not use one on open water with waves. I prefer the Holland 7.6 for a race boat in this size range.

Thanks for the info!

I was looking at one and wondering whether it was a strong, durable boat able to take a beating and the occasional trek through rough weather.

Santana 25

Still need to know which model you are looking at. Is it the narrower beam Santana 25 or the wide beam flying saucer shaped fractional rigged Santana 525.
The Santana 25 may be a mast head rig, my memory does not recall.

Hey BC Mike,

I'm actually looking at the ~10' beam 525 I think.

Looks like a masthead sloop.

Santana

The Santana 525 is a fractional rig wide beam. I would not reccommend this boat for strong wind choppy sea areas. The older 25 may be a mast head and it is similar to a San Juan 24 C&C24, US 25 type boat. This would be better for rough weather up to the limits of a 25 foot boat. We have quite a few 525s on the lake, most from the San Fran area.

Re: Santana 25'

I have a Santan 25 (not the 525) and I sail it on Lake StClaire in Michigan and it does take a good beating and is very strong as long as you have the approprite sail for the weather. One thing about it is that for a 25' boat it is a screamer. I have yet to find a boat that can out point me. Hope that helps.

Re: Santana 25'

my Santana 2023 has only seen weather in the Barnegat bay but another person near me frequents the open ocean. Only day trips but he seems to do fine when leaving or returning at slack tides.

Barney Post.
Sailboat Data shows no rigging details. I'm hoping to find some.
Thanks.
