Looking at a 2005 Beneteau 43
it has been I a collision damage to bow above water.
mast and standing rig need replaced.
guide price is 69k USD.
any thoughts.

Don't know what else you are looking for... But wire for that should be $3.5-5k, Turnbuckles are going to add a bit more... A plain smooth (just holes) stick new, around $10k + all the goodies you're going to need...

This is ALL... If you do the work...

Betting it would be North of $30k to have it done on the cheap...

is the boat salvaged? if so that will affect the future sale of the boat. Of course as with all used boats, the real question is how well was it maintained, what equipment will come with the boat? What hidden damage might there be as a result of the collision?

it is quite well equipped, Just it's in St Martin
not to worried about resale as I'm 68 years old and would be keeping it.
thought of shipping it to Toronto as I live here and making it a project.
would have to get it for a good price, with the cost of shipping and all.
I'll keep thinking.

I would be very worried about a salvage boat damaged in an accident needing a new mast and rigging. Not so much because of the cost of these items but more because of the hidden damage. I have seen accident damaged boats that had their rigging mounts torn off the deck and hull. If the damage to the mast and rigging was caused by the said accident it is almost certain there is more damage where you can not see. Then it becomes serious and VERY expensive. Not worth it imho. You would have to be 100% certain there is absolutely NO additional damage and that the boat otherwise is pristine and has nice recent fully working equipment, such as a recent good generator, water maker, quality recent electronics, new sails, to justify that kind of a price. Older electronics are not worth any premium.
Have a look at this cheap 2006 Beneteau 43 Cyclades asking 75 K USD. Yes, not a pristine example and an old charter boat but at least should be about ready to sail after some minor improvements. That one would go for about 60 to 65K I reckon. I don't mean I would recommend that particular boat.But just to give you perspective.

The one you are interested they are asking 69K? Mast and rigging about 30K? 5 to 10K to fix the damage to hull? If absolutely NO additional damage and the boat is a top example in pristine condition I would not pay more than 30K for it. A lot also depends on how much work you can do yourself. But there are always always other things to fix and repair in boats. Why increase the list even more by buying a boat with so many potential issues and potential hidden damage? I would say it is more likely to have substantially more damage than what is let to believe. I reckon the broker/seller is hoping to find someone with a boat fever willing to pay a deposit and hopefully not survey the boat. Buyer beware.

salvage sailboat--been written off by insurance as a total loss to someone.
make judgement accordingly. salvages can present with issues not found in boats not requiring salvage. salvages can be difficult to insure.
this is still a buyers market and many beneteaus on planet. might wanna check out the intact ones first.
my formosa was a salvage--is still presenting with issues.

New mast / rigging this size about 20-30k depending on where you are.

Lamination paid by hour but make sure you get the right person. I have seen botched laminations too.
