Sailing the Adriatic

Hey There - I need some help and I'm sure this group is the right source. We just bought a 57' Hanse in Slovenia and plan on sailing south to Greece in late September where we will leave the boat until next Spring to sail the Mediterranean. In the meantime, we will be sailing along the Croatian and Montenegro coastlines. The real concern is how do I find a safe, affordable and reliable marina to leave the boat over the winter? Also - if you are in the Adriatic, we would love to make you a cocktail on the MairMade!

Re: Sailing the Adriatic

Hello and welcome.

Several people on here have recommended Monfalcone in the past as being quite reasonable.

We only bought our boat in March but having been keeping it in Certosa in Venice (Vento di Venezia |), on the recommendation of another CF member. I had quote from Monfalcone and there wasn't much in it - Venice is much easier to get to though, especially over winter.

Re: Sailing the Adriatic

I have heard good things about winter storage on the hard in Preveza. If you want to stay in the water, then Corfu may be a choice.

We found it much cheaper in Sicily, which is where we wintered.

Cheers!

The boat stays in San Giorgio di Nogaro over the winter up a freshwater estuary, and I return to Massachusetts to work for five months over the winter.
