Sailing from Charleston, SC to The Dom. Republic

I'm going to start this thread by asking all of you to remember back when you started and the time it took you to become the experienced sailors that you are. That said...

I have a Balboa 26 and am doing the research to determine how feasible it is to hop from Charleston, SC down the coast and then to the Keys to provision the boat for a cruise to the Dominican Republic's northern shore. I've noted that in some of the threads there are various discussions describing different routes and the issues with The Gulf Stream. I would be fitting the boat with guidance systems and would like to discuss any recommendations the community may have.

Guidance systems? The trip could be a lot of fun. A boat that size would be best to travel down the ICW to the Keys. After that, you should be ready for the next trip to the Bahamas, then on to DR. A Balboa 26 could do it.

The boat could do it but the captain is not ready.
