Sailboat with 6'8" Headroom

I've been asked to help someone find a sailboat with 6'8" headroom. We were looking at an IP-485, but it is 6'5". Off the top of my head, I can't think of any. At this point, this is the main concern.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Valient and Caliber might have that much room. At 6-8 it starts to get hard to get full head room.

I googled "6'8" headroom sailboat" and came up with several hits if you want to try it. Had a very tall friend on board our Tashiba 40 and he was surprised he could stand up straight but I don't think he was 6'8.

Our Macintosh 47 has 6'8" headroom. However, since there were only 16 made, they can be hard to find...

Our C&C might have 6'8"? Not sure, but I'm 6'5" inches and don't tend to bang my head in the saloon. I do have to duck going from cabin to cabin though.

Looking for head room, I have it

Hi, We have had Columbia 57 #5 for the past twenty years. She is a great sailing/cruising boat and is also a complete survival island. Completely self sufficient. She make her own water from the sea and generates electricity from the wind. She carries dehydrated food with a twenty year shelf life for 500 meals. Head room in the main saloon is 7'1" but as you move out into the staterooms it gets down to as low as 6' and 6'3". As our age advances (75 & 82) and arthritis takes it's toll we find we can no longer go sailing so we are ready to sell this boat and look for a power boat that will be easier on our physical conditions. If this sound like the answer to your needs, let me know.

From AUDACIOUS II in Honolulu

Aloha,

Reg

Hmm.. I take it this boat is to be owned by a either a very tall person or someone with Claustrophobia.

The problem with large open spaces inside a yacht is a lack of handholds. Just my 2cents but something to keep in mind

Cheers

I'm 6'7" so I know about your problems. Hard to get headroom above regardless of boat size.

The new Farr/BMW designed Bavaria 50 will have 6'11" headroom.

Can be hard to find since only 16 were built, but our boat has that and more over most of it.

Re: Sailboat with 6'8" Headroom

New to the forum. I'm also looking for a Sloop in the 60' - 65' range with enough headroom for me thoughout. I'm 6'8" and don't want to bang my head in rough seas.

Welcome aboard Dave! The only one that pops to mind is the old Columbia 50, though it's not long enough for you. Pretty nice boat though if you can find one in good shape! I believe it had over 6'-8" in the main salon.

Good luck!
