I think the sail drive in the Corbin's is not all that common. The factory only finished 12 boats to completion and I don't think they used it in more then 1 . I own one of those factory finished Corbin's, as far as my experience and other Corbin owners I have met, the boats , especially ones produced after 1983 are excellent boats. The problem with them is since so many were owner finished the level of quality varies greatly from one to another

The Niagra 35 pretty much all have sail drives and many have done circumnavigations it's another maintanace point and does free up allot of space in the boat for other stuff, often the fuel tanks

Not wanting to be a stickler but the Niagara 35's after 1982 all were shaft driven. Its a great boat either way and as you mentioned many have been taken offshore with the saildrive.
