Re: Sabre Boats

I have owned 2 Sabres, the 34, and the 38, both of Mark2 era which were big advances on the mark 1's. The 425 is in effect the 42 Mark 2 and is a lovely boat like all Sabres. The 426 is their next generation, say Mark 3, to my mind it is not as nice as the earlier boats, but thats because I am an old fogey. Either way, they built very fine sailing boats, which regrettably they don't do any more, they only build motor boats. If you are looking at used Sabres, the one thing I did not like was the habit of positioning the engine and drive shaft at 15 degrees to the centre line which had a terrible effect on marina manoeuvring, particularly astern. I think they had dropped this arrangement by the Mark 3 versions!
