I've been looking at this Roberts for some time. I have heard that the seller is flexible on price.

Anyone have experience with a similar Roberts 36 design?

These are a good boat, but this one is woefully underpowered at 20hp.Maybe its a typo in the add. I would expect to see almost double that.

Thanks for the advice about the engine. I notice that your boat is steel. Many Roberts designs are multi chine steel... but this boat is full GRP. Perhaps the weight difference means the engine is small but not woefully underpowered?

Yep, 20 hp is a bit smaller that often fitted to such a boat. However, whether it is TOO small depends on how you anticipate using the engine. 20 bhp will certainly get the boat up to near hull speed in calm conditions, but will be pretty slow against headwinds or adverse sea conditions. This situation is acceptable to some, and some view it with great alarm. When you consider that some cruise successfully without any engine at all, it looks ok. When you hear folks talking about dropping the sails and motoring whenever things get tough, it indeed sounds inadequate!!

If coupled with a good prop I would not myself consider it a deal breaker.

If you are considering this boat as a long distance cruiser, some more info about the batteries would be useful, and the fuel tankage (not including the jerry cans listed) is pretty slim. If the pix are current, looks pretty well maintained.
