Relocating Nav Light Around New Anchor Roller ?

I am going to be installing a 23" plow anchor roller in the bow of my Pearson 26. There's not a lot of room up there and I have to put it aft of the first pulpit stantion on the starboard bow. I just realized the anchor will block the view of my starboard navigation light.

Should I move the light back behind the anchor, get something on a short pole to raise it up above the anchor, or leave the old one where it is and double up with another just aft of the anchor?

I wish there were a better place for my than where I'm putting it...

I'd be tempted to get a red/green combo and mount it on the underside of the top rail on the pulpit. Raising it up would make it a bit more visible to others.

That sounds like a decent option, but I'm not seeing many rail mounted combo lights. Do you have one in mind?

Also, would I run the wires outside the rail or drill a hole in it?

The smaller Catalinas (C-22/25/27) came stock their bow combos mounted that way. And my Albin has separates mounted on a plate welded between the rail and the upright. That extra 18" probably gives you another mile of vis. Drilling and fishing the wires through the railing can be a pain since you have to pull and rebed the pulpit but it looks much better. Make sure you put a neoprene grommet in the hole before you pull the wire. No chafe on the edge.

Yes, have a small plate welded to the face of the stanchion and bolt a light to it.

A trick to pull the wire through stanchions is to use a vacuum and mono filament line with a bit of tissue tied to it.

Apparently they sell a clamp on version of the same light for those that don't feel like welding (like me)...
