Reinke S10

Hello to all,
This is my first post on CF, but been following for a while now. Awesome stuff...

I am looking into buying a Reinke S10 steel sailboat.
When I "google" the name thou not a lot can be found considering its "sailing abilities". The description of the design at the Reinke website in english is not a very long one and in some websites I find people talking about them as motorsailors.

I am planning a circumnavigation and I am wondering if anyone out there know about, sailed one or have one Reinke S10?

If so, what do you say about it? Does she sail well?

I am not looking into racing anywhere, I will be cruising but I get a bit discouraged when I hear the word motorsailor referring to this design....

Thanks a lot in advance

Tassio

Hallo,
I have Reinke S10 (second hand) but for very short time so I don't have a lot of experience yet

It is not a racing boat but my opinion is that Reinke S10 is a good boat for cruising. We choosed this boat because of strong contruction, low draft (1.2m) because we want to be able to cruise channels a rivers too, use a small harbours, twin-keel so tidal areas are not a problem.

In my opinion the "sailing abilities" are good for a this semi-displacement boat. This boat sails better in stronger winds (it's what she was designed for). It's not a good choise for areas with prevalent light winds.

One my friend also has Reinke S10 and he is happy with she.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Tassio.

If the link is representative, I’d say you’ve got a capable boat! I like it.

Indeed. The avatar can't quite capture the majesty of my visage.

to Beam Reach : I forgot to mention that I have a aluminium version (about 8.5 ton). My friend have a steel version (about 10 ton).

Before buying I would check who build/welded the hull - if boat yard or if was home made. There are some yards (specially in germany) who are specialized in building Reinke boats.

If the hull was home made I would deeply check the hull.

Where are you from ? Where was the boat build ?
