Recommending first boat...

Hello - I'm looking at buying my first boat. I can only afford between 10k and 15k and so thinking I can get somewhere between 26' and 30'. I want to be able to cruise and sleep 2-4 people with a reasonable galley. I don't mind work on the aesthetic elements inside and out, perhaps a little more. I accept it'll be a project. I'd really appreciate a head start in knowing brands and models that are good value for money in this respect - and perhaps ones to totally avoid. Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Simon

Howdy Simon!

I see you are new to the forum. Welcome!

Since you mentioned a price range using pounds, I assume you are in the UK. ?

You mentioned "sleep 2-4" people. Would that be four adults or two adults and two children?

One of the boats that I find appealing that is relatively low cost (used), made in UK, widely available in the UK (with multiple units from which to choose), and seems roomy for its length, and seems good for coastal cruising (and some may go beyond that), is the Westerly Centaur 26.

I learned about this boat from the recommendations of Boatman61, one of the very experienced long distance sailors on this forum. He recommends it highly based on his personal experience with them.

_____________

I will post a few photos from my file on that boat.

Good luck on your search.
