Rawson 30

I am interested in - looking to buy - a Rawson 30. I welcome any input, advice, opinions related to the boat. Also welcome alternatives in the same type. If you know of one forsale I would also be interested.

I am looking at spending the next few years honing my skills while I work on preparing a boat for long-term cruising.

Aloha Michael,
Do a search on this forum for the Rawson 30. There is one advertised for sale. I've sailed one before. They are good solid heavily built fiberglass boats. Therefore, not racers. They are old so previous maintenance would be an issue deciding what price to pay.

Thanks - the one forsale here is gone. Having looked at many old boats - the loved and the unloved - you are right on. I have seen old boats that looked like new....and the opposite. Also with so much owner work on boats, the quality of that work is also an issue.

A good survey is a must. Does anyone recommend a good surveyor in this area (Olympia in Washington state) for old glass sailboats.

I think there was a Rawson 30 for sale on eBay. Think it was in Florida though.

Rawson 30s were designed by Bill Garden and really a great boat if well maintained. Hope you can find a good one.
