Ranger 23 in Lake Superior OK?

I am mulling over which boat would be best for my intended (eventual) use, sailing about in Lake Superior... not buying now, you understand, just analyzing...

Would a Ranger 23 be able to take what abuse the Lake can dish out? Or do I need something 'saltier'?

It seems like a good 'first boat' after a dinghy...

The designer of the Ranger 23, Gary Mull, said that “the intention was to produce a little ship capable of sailing anywhere in the world safely and swiftly.” The first boat was build in 1971 and the last of 739 total, in 1977 .

PS:
I see you are (somewhere) South of the Lake, so might expect to be cruising the USA “North” shore & Apostles.
Were you to contemplate the Canadian shore, you should be aware that there are NO fuel docks on the Cdn. Northern shore, hence I don’t recommend outboards up there.
