What are you trying to do? Get position data into your radio from your system?
The Icom 504, if it's like my M604, needs 4800 baud data over NMEA0183. Most networks from the last 15 years or so have an output of such data. Just find the two wires (or place to connect two wires) anywhere on the system which output NMEA0183 data, and connect them to the NMEA0183 input pins on your radio. Those are hollow gold pins to which you solder the wires, then screw down the connector over. That should
work, as it did on my previous system with approximately 12 year old
Raymarine gear.
If you can't find any NMEA0183 output from your system, which is possible is it is really old, then you can buy a
GPS receiver which directly outputs this data. They are not expensive. Just install it and connect it to your radio, the same way -- NMEA0183 outputs connected directly to NMEA0183 inputs on your radio, plus you will need a
power supply for the
GPS receiver.
Now if, on the other hand, you are trying to get data about
DSC alerts from your radio onto your plotter -- that is a horse of an entirely different color. You will need to read your
manuals. That is unlikely to
work at all on older systems.
