Question: Where to gawk in Annapolis?

I'm going to Annapolis later this month for a wedding (unfortunately, not during the sailboat show, but during the powerboat show). I'm hoping to have some time to just walk around town and look at cool sailboats -- either in marinas or boatyards. This would be much more fun for my husband than the wedding will be, so I want to use the time wisely. Does anyone have suggestions for places to go gawk at sailboats? Many thanks!

Take a water taxi over to Back Creek and get off at Port Annapolis marina. It’s a bit out of the way, but they have many interesting sailing vessels.

Closer to downtown, you can walk across the bridge and view some nice boats on either side of the Chart House restaurant, as well.

In addition to Port Annapolis, there's Annapolis Landing and Bert Jabins on the far side of Back Creek, plus Eastport Yachting Center, Mears Annapolis, Horn Point Marina... umm... maybe some others on the near side.

It can be a hoot to just walk the Main Street/Harbor area, or there's a walking tour offered by the Visitors Center.

You might looking around the Naval Academy, too.

Re: Question: Where to gawk in Annapolis?

For numbers of sailboats per square mile, you can't beat the Eastport peninsula, just across the Spa Creek drawbridge from downtown Annapolis. It's very walkable, and all the streets end at the water... almost always at a marina or boatyard.

If you have access to a car or bike and want to travel slightly farther afield, go around the headwaters of Back Creek to Edgewood Road just across Back Creek from Eastport. That side of Back Creek is also chock-a-block with marinas and boatyards.
