Pulpit vs Netting

The pulpit floor on grace need to be replaced (it is completely absent at the moment) and that got me wonder which option is better or what the advantages of each are of a wood floored pulpit or the rope netting?

Any thought tips?

Re: Pulpit vs Netting

I'm thinkin you mean the bowsprit yes? I liked getting one foot on a whisker and the other on the sprit. One leg had a bearing the other followed the boats motion. I never liked my lifelines diving down as yours do at the pulpit. It's not intuitive. They should lead right up at top of pulpit height. I like the way your sprit is set up. Before you decide walk it through in your head stand up there and brace your feat. Find a good place to tether your short harness in. Good luck

Re: Pulpit vs Netting

We have blown out the wood grate in our bowsprit three times. This time we are replacing it with starboard. The guy putting it in says he'll eat the shreds if if blows out. We shall see, I'm keeping an extra bottle of ketchup in case. But I need something out there to stand on, I don't think netting would do it for me.

Netting could work, but a more rigid platform would be better for any kind of activity you might want to perform on the pulpit.
