I don't have a 45, but have had my Hunter 3 years and have nothing to report as to your question because I haven't had any.

But expect you will hear back from many experts.

Consider just forgetting about this thread and use the search feature and get all the reading you could ever want that way.

Re: Problems/weaknesses Hunter 45

I'll open a good bottle of red wine, make some tapas, slide into my easy chair, get comfy and watch the shootin' war this thread will contain.

Next time George, ask if hunters are good for carrying guns........

It's a Ford vs Chevy, Coke vs Pepsi, Star Trek vs Star wars, Harley vs Sport bike argument. There will be no winner only a senseless bloody war with thousands of casualties. Pull the cord and bail out now while you can.

Time to pop some popcorn and watch the show. Why do I have a feeling that is a field trip? It's really obvious that the entire thread was designed to start a flame war.

Owners owning the same boat you want, small
Owners owning boats In that size, smaller
Owners going to give you the info you want to hear, infinitely smaller
Reading what your about to here priceless....

go to Hunter forum where you will get the information you're looking for. you've been here over a year you should know this won't go well..

Edemorelli, your sailing a MacGregor 26X now. I assume a Hunter of any size would be a step up.

Re: Problems/weaknesses Hunter 45

Really depends on the survey of the individual boat. The big maintenance/ cost difference will be because it is a 45 foot boat compared to a trailer able 26. I would say, that the 26 did it's job in teaching you the great fun of sailing. Fair winds

Hire a surveyor. There are no experts here.

Re: Problems/weaknesses Hunter 45

Hunter 45, no , no you'll die, the keel will fall off , the boat will disintegrate in anything over F2, the rudder will fall off , just by looking at it OMG.

By a long keeled double ender, you'll never leave the dock, but you can brag on CF

Re: Problems/weaknesses Hunter 45

Perhaps if you got out of your CF chair and walked the docks of cruising ports, you would see many double-ender, full keelers along with a few fin keel bars of soap.

dammed few near me, all fin as far as I can see, Oysters, Beenys, Bavs, Jeenys, Hanse, Delphia, X-yachts, sweden yachts, malo, HR, contessas ( sort of long keel but very reduced forefoot), odd mcgreggor, and a few exotics
