Price of new mast and boom???

Recently bought a project boat just a small 13.5' fiberglass dingy and the hull was in perfect shape but the mast and boom are wooden and were left outside to rot so what can I expect to pay for a used aluminum 18' mast and 8' boom?

Re: Price of new mast and boom???

I've seen atleast 3 on craigslist around here recently. sunfish types, sometimes unknown types (but meant for small dinghies, maybe even a windsurfer?), in the range of $100-250.

No idea what they would cost new. I'd just keep an eye on craigslist and ebay and start asking around. You'll find a good deal eventually.

You can also consider buying a complete new boat of similar size, maybe in bad shape, for a similar price.

Thanks I have been looking I have a wanted add out there for a used set found a couple boats In bad shape but both had wooden mast and boom and I just don't want it too much upkeep respectfully some prefer the wooden mast but not me I snapped one before and took it in the head. ;( lol

Just looking for a ball park price of what you would pay I don't want to spend a fortune I already spent 5500$ on a 420 a few years ago this project will be for my son.

Anywhere from 0 to $300.
You can also get a new mast in any stage of readyness from bare extrusion to boat ready with all rigging from

Re: Price of new mast and boom???

Just for reference here's a few that I'm talking about.
I'm sure it will be different in your area, but these are probably good prices to expect.
Also, obviously, when buying a random mast of various size, it probably won't just fit perfectly. You'll have to modify something somewhere...

O'day Swift (complete boat)

26' mast (cut it down?)

8' dinghy with mast

windsurfing mast

(edit) NOTE: I have no idea what the specs of a 420 mast are.

Make one. It's not hard and the experience will be of great value.
