Yes I agree, anyway I am glad to have gotten in touch with them. Being that my degree was in business your speaking to my heart with the amortization calculations of the porta bote costs. I was laughing quite a bit when I read that.

I was looking into the porta bote a couple years ago, and then got totally sidetracked by life and have been out of the boating loop. I just found out our outboard got stolen in the Turks and Caicos, so now I am again looking at either buying another 20 horse outboard, or taking this opportunity to replace the whole shebang with a 12 ft. PB and a 6 horse outboard. I could put the boat inside the cabin, and the motor in one of the engine rooms when we leave the boat for hurricane season. This is another reason to look at porta botes.

And they do seem to last forever. Not a chance with an inflatable. If they don't leak they get stolen.

I have been looking at the new QUICK BOATS from Australia. they look VERY nice

I saw the QuickBoat ads and like the looks of those, too, but have been having a hard time finding any sales outlets for them. Are they still in business?

I agree the Quick Boats look spiffy and it sounds like they have a less flexible bottom, plane better.

OTOT it also looks like they would be a lot less durable. More easily damaged and harder to fix.

I emailed them about dealer in North America and haven't heard back yet.

Saw on their Facebook page from last year that they were looking for a way to restart production in Australia. With an optimistic timeframe of 6 months.

I hope Quickboats gets back up and running. I’ve looked at their website and like what I see. If I ever get to the point where my now 10+ year old portabote is no longer functioning, I’d definitely look at this option.

That said, my bote shows no signs of deterioration. The seats seem to be the only vulnerable part, and they are fairly easy to replace (although I’ve not had to do that yet). It would take serious effort to damage the hull of these botes.

Can you explain more about this hpeer? I looked at the website, but can’t find much detail on the material or construction. I know the portabotes are some sort of plastic polymer that is very tough. This is one of the great advantages of these boats as dingys; they’re damn near indestructible.
