Polaris 43

Are there any owners of Polaris 43's that could share their opinions with me? Not a lot of information about them available. I'm considering buying one and would like to know what you think of your Polaris.

Re: Polaris 43

I have never owned a Polaris 43 myself, but my boss had one built in Taiwan and I sailed on a few times. He took it on a one year cruise from San Francisco to Tahiti, then Hawaii and home, but he never could get his new wife to buy into the program and sold it soon afterwards for a canal boat in France.

As I recall, he had Robert Perry himself redesign the boat with more of a flush deck, so the reports of pirated designs doesn't align with my memories. We would spend our lunch hours figuring out things like propellor sizes, and he took several trips to Taiwan while it was being built.

My impressions on San Francisco Bay were that it was a sweet cruising boat and a joy to sail.

Thanks so much for your insight Don, every little bit helps.

Hey there! Did you ever get the Polaris? Apparently there were only 6 made and my buddy is looking at one. Just wondering what you decided I went with him and I think she's a beautiful boat. If i had seen it before buying mine, I would have bought this Polaris for sure.

Hello SeaDub689....
I passed on the Polaris because it required a tremendous amount of work and dollars. I really liked the design of the boat which is basically
a Valiant 42 with flush decks. However it lead me to a similar design known as the Corbin 39. I purchased the flagship known as Stradimarius II.

Where is the Polaris your friend is considering?

Best regards
Mike

Thats a good looking boat! The Polaris is in Junea, Alaska. He's most likely going to buy it, just waiting for the survey.
