Re: Please Help Identify My Boat

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if you still had your newport 20?... I have the same... fixed fin keel... great boat. There doesn't seem to be much data out there other than the pages linked further in the thread, but if you have found anything, or have any questions about mine, feel free to connect.

Re: Please Help Identify My Boat

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering how the Newport 20 turned out. I have one of these also and I'm in the process of restoring it. I anticipate it being a great sailing little boat. It's a Gary Mull design, so I don't expect anything less.

Re: Please Help Identify My Boat

Hi MrMel! I believe I got your contact info from Chris but never did get in touch with you. I recently bought a Newport 20. The mast is down now and I've ordered new rigging. How's your refit coming along? I think you had been interested in knowing what a "clean" deck looks like. I'm pretty sure mine's as close to original as they come. I'll send photos and connect via email soon

Re: Please Help Identify My Boat

Thanks Gamayun, I would love to hear from you. Yes, since documentation of this boat seems to be nonexistent, any pics of a basic stock boat would be appreciated. I have holes all over where different gear has been mounted over the years. So, I'm filling everything in and starting fresh unless I know for sure it's a keeper. The project is moving along albeit slowly. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes. I hope to be finally painting in the next month.

Re: Please Help Identify My Boat

Actually, there is something you can help me with in addition to the pictures. According to legend (for lack of a better term), there were only a hand full of these made as in 3 or 4). Chris doesn't think that's correct. My registration say mine is hull number 124. It could be actually hull 124 or it could be design 12 and boat #4 of that design. Nobody can answer that question one way or another. I want to order a new main and not sure it it should wear number 4 or 124. Does your sail number match your hull number on your registration? My current main is a replacement sail with nothing on it at all.
