Heh...

Having watched the joy-stick piloting of a large ferry, I don't see why it wouldn't. I helped rig a remote tiller (the blocks and rope kind of remote) into the cabin of a little sloop once. I certainly expect that would count as an inside steering station, but the boat was not a 'Deck Salon'...

I have one of the earlier Deck Salons. The Sceptre 41. Photo Gallery#
I've never used the inside sterring station. My seat is missing so it would be difficult to use the inside steering.

It seems that the lines between "Pilot houses", "Deck Salons", Motor sailers, and Aux. sailboats have really blurred in the last twenty years or so. I am currently refitting a pilothouse Motorsailer (term used by the manufacturer), and I've never sailed any boat for inside. I cant wait to try it though. I love seeing pics of other pilothouse sailboats, in fact I collect them! Post all ya got! Chris

Again Bob ,a wheelhouse and inside steering has nothing to do with motors. Only wisdom and good seamanship.

Bob,

Impressive back ground. I'd love to sit down and pick your brain. I did meet Nils Lucander at one point but only casually.

Keep up the input.

You met Nils.
Ok, I won't hold that against you.
Stop by my office some time and we'll chat.
I'll tell you my Nils Lucander story. It's very funny.
