Permanently Removing the Mast on a Saga 27 Motorsailor

Hi all, I have moved off my Adams 24 (the headroom inside was not compatible with living aboard, my height & my sore back) and have acquired, WITHOUT choice,a Saga 27 motor sailor (Norwegian) with a full length shallow keel & 36hp Volvo penta diesel. My main boating pleasures are exploring the upper reaches of river systems (low bridges & low power cables) and I`m not into big swells & rough seas & like to venture out into the ocean on those lovely calm, flat days & then only to get to the next river system up the coast ( which in my case tends to be about 35 mile hops ) My question is... How will the Saga 27 handle if I take off the mast & rigging? Saga do make a motor cruiser without sails, using the same hull, but I`m not sure if they use ballast in the motor cruiser.
