Pearson 36 info needed

Are any of you familiar with the Pearson 36 k/cb? It is a lovely boat but I am wondering about its construction, sailing characteristics, and suitability for use in the Bahamas and Carribbean. Thanks.

Hi Frers

Have you tried the site Pearson Information site. It gives links to different Pearson websites. Maybe one of them would be helpful.

I owned a Pearson 38 for many years and it was a great boat. Very well built and a good performer. The previous owners spent several years in the Bahamas and South America and said the boat performed well. The 38 is basically a 36 with a swim platform and interior changes, although you may be looking at the older 36, which I believe has a different keel configuration and different rigging.

There are still many 36s out there, which is a testament to the quality of Pearsons.

Pearson 36-2 Info

Hi, I own a 1985 Pearson 36-2 called Stargazer. This boat is a charter boat at 360 Yachting in Fort Myers Florida. We have taken it to the Bahamas for charters several times over the last 5 years and it is has performed superbly. We like the boat so much we put her through a thorough refit this past fall, fixing many of the small things that were/would have lead to her deterioration. Resealing all deck fittings, stuffing box, electrical upgrades, ac, windlass addition, countertops, sink and shower fittings, water pressure and water heater, new sails and canvas, new awlgrip captains navy topsides, new upholstery and interior varnish. We are at 360yachting.com

We have a box aluminum davits that was made to lift our 1000 lb Noverania 14 Center Console and the boat still faired great in rough seas with the extra weight.

Others will disagree, but I think the fin keeled version, at 6'-6"” draft will be just a little deep for comfortable Bahamas cruising. The keel-centreboard option (4'-2" Up / 8'-3" Dn) might be preferable, though I’m not a centreboard fan.
