Pan Oceanea sloop?

Anyone ever heard if this Boat Manufacturer even exists? Some joker on CL is trying to sell it-- I googled all of the boat lists I was aware of-- maybe some of you old salts-- and the wiser might have heard of its origin? Or call it out as bogest?

You should try Yahoo...
Pan Oceanic Sailboats For Sale

Pan Oceanic Marine had its beginnings in 1979, when Reese Palley asked naval architect Ted Brewer to design a flush-deck pilothouse cutter. That is just what Ted did, naming the design the Oceanic 46. With the design in hand, Reese's next challenge was getting it built. He hired one Robert Pancoe to get it done in Taiwan. Mr. Pancoe built Reese his boat, and decided that other sailors might like one too.

I am not familiar with the one you are looking at, but the ones for sale on yachtworld definately appear to be the real deal.

For cross continent cruising you need a Winnebago.

Re: Pan Oceanea sloop?

The pan oceanic 43 (?) is a great boat. All the usual cautions about Taiwan boatbuilding and teak decks apply. I sailed with friends who had one.

Cool-- thanks guys... Just wondering... Looks like this one is a Hurricane Katrina survivor about 12 hrs drive... Think I'll pass-- that's alotta boat to rejuvenate without a FREE yard nearby to put it up on the hard for the years of repairs it will need... A little too big for me to take on right now.

Thank you guys again for contributing...
