and, if you are truly interested in formosa/ct/hardin------ research a lot and sail a bunch--- there are some good ones for sale for around 30k these days. leaky teaky yacht club has a lot of good info on formosa et alii and young sun and island trader boats.

Pacific not peacefull...

From this side of the Pacific the O.I. 41 looks like an excellent boat for careful use in the Caribbean. I would not be surprised to find that the older ones are hard to insure.

However one did vanish (from memory) while being brought back from Fiji to Australia.

Its a long way across the pacific and, from reports, there's a fair chance of getting some sustained bad weather. Boats making this trip need to be up to it.
