Opinions on Perason sailboats 36-40

I would appreciate any comments on Pearson sailboats, I am looking for something in the 36 to 40 ft range for coastal cruising in Nova Scotia. Something newer than ~1985 because it must have an aft cabin. My impression is that a Pearson is better built than a Beneteau and comparable to a C&C. Any thoughts?

As a much younger man I sailed on a friends newly delivered Pearson 365 on its first of many trips to Catalina. It was a great boat but did need some improvement for serious blue water. FYI, check out this site http://lostonpurpose.net/ on the 365. It may take a little work but it's a great boat and you won't be disappointed.

Cheers,

s/v HyLyte

Pearson

I hope my mispelling of Pearson in the thread title has not kept people from commenting on the build quality or sailing characteristics of any 36 foot and over aft cabin models.
