Opinion on Columbia 10.7 ?

There are currently several 1978 and 1979 35' Columbia sloops for sail around the U.S. I am in the market to buy one and would be interested in a few knowledgable opinions about the boat.

I have a '79 Columbia 10.7 I bought back in March of this year. The former owner purchased her down in Key Largo and after living aboard for a year and a half sailed back up to Kentucky Lake where I purchased her. I am very impressed with the roominess and stowage - she's got lots of it! Sails well, no bad characteristics I have found - good performance in light air. Very tight turning radius, heavily laid fiberglass, its the kind of boat that instills confidence. I will be moving aboard full time in March with plans to head toward St. Croix sometime thereafter.

Mike, I sailed my 8.7 from Little River, SC to Bermuda and back to the Chesapeake. Lived aboard and sailed her for two years before I move up. I thoroughly enjoyed the boat and would recommend the older Columbia's. These were built by Hughes and were a better build than the more well known Columbia's. Chuck
