On the market but unsure which one

I won't tell you what slams whatnot but I can tell you that the best upwind upchop ride I have ever had was in a HR46 with turbo VP and a blade inner jib. That was 8'+ chop and wind up to 40kts at times.

I have watched Amels passing us by on the stretch from the Diamond Rock to le Marin: they do NOT slam. They go thru the chop like a hot knife through the butter.

And from looking at a new (then) A55 at the dock and in the boatyard I will say that was one of the prettiest lines I have seen around.

Nothing wrong with larger boats, but less than 40' does not necessarily imply inadequate storage. While the modern trend is 'bigger is better', plenty of couples have made lengthy voyages in reasonable comfort in <40' boats. A few well-documented examples:

• Wanderer III, a 30' Laurent Giles design (five circumnavigations and over 300,000 miles logged to date);
• Badger, a 34' junk-rigged schooner version of the Wylo-II (Arctic, Antarctic, and numerous transatlantic crossings, over 110,000 miles logged);
• Seraffyn and Taleisin, respectively 24' and 29' cutters;
• Whisper, a Spencer 35 (Japan, Aleutian Islands, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cape Horn, Ecuador, Japan, Mediterranean, Peru, Uruguay, etc.)

A previous poster mentioned Morris Yachts. I have had an eye on them for sometime now.Impressive design, build quality and offshore function. Worth at least a look.
We currently sail a 46'. For us.... It's perfect, next trip...West coast of SA

The Amel range are superb ocean going yachts - it has one too few hull for me, as I prefer cats. However, if I ever went back to a mono-hull I would certainly have Amel somewhere at the top of the list. Despite one assertion about their seaworthiness I shall state that post is not correct - they do not slam and and are certainly very seaworthy. Look at You Tube and view 'S/V Delos' who have dozens of posts over the five years or so as they circumnavigate. They are built as crusing boats and not as charter vessels and are equipped and constructed accordingly. If you go back to an older model they are also very affordable. Best wishes.
