Not My Choice, but Seems Like a Buy

Browsing through some boat porn, and came upon this 43' Atoll Dufour. Looks and reviews leave some things to be desired (methinks), but regardless, at $129K, this seems a steal
.
Almost a good enough buy to consider going into the day charter business!

Thoughts?

Day charter. Hmm....let's see. I like sailing because of the peacefulness and freedom. So I load my boat up with a bunch of landlubbing strangers who treat me like their personal slave, get drunk, screw, and throw up on my boat. Oh, and sue me because they slipped on their own vomit.

Personally, I'd rather spend time in prison.

Hell yes... I'd do it 1 or 2 days a week to boost/maintain my cruising budget....
Be perfect for the Caribbian or the Med..
Just be picky on charterers... not all holiday makers are drunk sex maniacs...

Re: Not My Choice, but Seems Like a Buy

I have been on one of those, the boat in question is very profitably in the 'backpacker trade' in Cartagena. Owner loads 8 backpackers and their gear and charges them $350 each for a 5 day trip to the San Blas Islands he than loads up again with passengers and returns to Cartagena. Feeds them rice and beans and makes 15-20 round trips a year.

Looks nice but not sure it is worth that much money...depends on age and equipment.
