Norfolk, Virginia to New Orleans

not sure which forum to post this on ...

well, i'm about to leave on a trip from norfolk to new orleans singlehanding my new grampian 26. it's been a few years since i've been sailing, and never a trip quite like this. i need lots of advice please, starting with which guides. i'm considering doziers waterway guides and regular charts. i have a hand held gps ... and an iphone. cosidering a small st1000 autopilot. help please........

Get the "skipper bob" ICW waterway guide. gives an almost mile by mile anchorage and marina guide. Have a great time

You going around Florida, or through it on the canal? And be careful to wait for a stretch of good weather between Tampa and St. Mark's, since you don't have any ICW in between and have to go offshore.

I could give you a little local advice for the Mobile to Lake Pontchartrain part. the Florida part I'm just mentioning, I haven't done it.

I'm planning on going through Lake Okeechobee. How many days would you guess between St. Marks and Tampa?

Saints Marks is very pretty but that is about it.Why are you going there anyway?From tampa tp dog island is about 160 nm iirc,most people cross from anclote key to dog is aprox. 124 nm.marc
