Nordic 40

Recently a Nordic 40 became available close to home. John Neale posted a remark about "repairable mast step deflection" issues here Mahina Expedition - Offshore Cruising Instruction. I heard another story about the topmost rudder bearing breaking out the casing off shore. Anybody have any experience, 1st or 2nd hand, with Nordic 40 rudder or mast step problems and fixes?
I do plan on buying into Robert Perry's consultation service once I firm up my commitment to looking at this boat.

Gordon Meigs recently reviewed them for Cruising World
Nordic 40: The Belle of Bellingham - Cruising World

A Bob Perry consultation is well worth the fee.

Only the 44' beats this one.

Have a look at the specific one that is available. Maybe you can get a good price and put the difference into fixing the areas?
