Newport 30 Info from Owners

I'm looking at some newport 28,30s just want some info from owners.pros, cons,common problems,ect..I'd go to the docks and ask around but I live in the highest town in N.america.thanks

On a 78 mkii 30' anybody replace the masthead sheaves? If so where did ya find them?

Well this is quite a thread resurrection!
If the sheaves are like mine, those diameters aren't made anymore. You may have to get them custom made. I did. Check with Ballenger Spars in Watsonville, CA. Great folks, they will know exactly what you are talking about.
Otherwise take yours to a chandlery and have them look through the catalogs for sizes. Garhauer and Schaeffer (and others) may have them.
