I can understand that there might be details contained within the survey which you would rather keep private, but can you be a little more specific than "survey went very well"? Did you complete your purchase based strongly on a survey which showed the boat to be in better condition than previously assumed?

Yes, the survey did influence our decision quite a bit. I'll give some examples:

1) What looked like an impact on the bow while the boat was in the water turned out to not look like much of anything when the boat was out of the water. We could tell that all that happen was that the anchor roller was too small and that caused the minor distortion of the toe rail.

2) The inspector determined that only a couple of the inner shrouds needed to be replaced (a huge cost savings there). It seemed as though many of the other shrouds had previously been replaced.

3) He found no evidence of any water penetration through the deck hardware.

4) While the boat has mostly been inactive for many years, the service company must have done a great job because the bottom was very clean, the through-hulls were creature-less, the zincs were in good shape, the diesel starts and runs easily, the seacocks operate smoothly...

Again Congrat's Darrell. After looking at the boat I believe that you have a very cautious eye which will serve you in the long run. Frankly she didn't look like a boat that was not being used. Whoever was looking after her was doing a good job. By the way that is a great slip, keep it if you can. All the best and see you on the bay.

Thanks... So far, so good. Sunshine Yachts had the contract to maintain the boat. I think they did a good job as well.

We had that slip transferred to us by the seller. I think it is very nicely sheltered in there

The whole famil unit is getting into the cleanup and repair effort... we're having a blast. Just wish it wasn't so darn hot. I think I'm going to invest in a couple of those passive solar vent fans to circulate the air in the boat. Being closed up for most of the last 4 years has taken its toll on the interior a bit. Very dusty and musty
