Newer boats like Tayana or Hans Christian

I simply love the looks of these boats with the teak cabins but I need some of the modern comforts.

Is there anything with a sugar scoop or something that would allow for easy entry from the dingy or water, but yet have that classic beauty inside like the Hans or Tayana?

With bad knees trying to board climbing a ladder does not sound feasible.

Thanks
Carlton

I think the Tayana 44 and 58 have a sugar scoop stern, but I'm not sure.

Correction, the 44 has a fold down transom.

I love the interior of our Caliber which has a swim platform. Not as fancy but lots of wood and very bright. Great sailing boat too.

You could look at a Hylas they have great swim platforms. I have a Bristol with that great interior woodwork that you don't see any more. I have plans to put on a flush fold down swim platform , so you can, update an older boat.

Regards

What size and budget are you considering? Without knowing either of those, I'll suggest something from Taswell or Passport.

40 foot or less and $100k or less for the boat to allow for refurb if needed.

Disregard my options then. Lol. In that price range, considering a sugar scoop stern is a fairly recent development, you might be best served buying an ex charter Bene or Juneau. Just my .02

LOL, the 35 Caliber LRC is within my budget, but it also lacks a sugar scoop.. i may have to look at the moorings boats and see what they have. I know you can get the Bene 37 for under $100k and then have plenty to buy water makers and generators.

You can also add a swim platform to an older boat, which is what we did. Obviously bought with this in mind, so made reasonably sure it would work on the boat before purchasing. Works great on the reverse transom we got (and happens to also be a Tayana).

It wasn't cheap, but some of the best money we spent on upgrades.

Seems like the Bene 37 is exactly what you're looking for, if you can find one that doesn't need too much refit...

The 35 does have a swim platform. It is actually the 33 with the swim platform added. If it does not have it then it is the 33.

One more vote for Hylas. Each model has a swim platform.
