Newer Beneteau 33 vs. Older Catalina 36 MK II

Hey!

I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are. We have seen a lot of boats recently and for now want to go with something a bit cheaper. We have found newer (2000-2003) Beneteau 33 boats in our price range as well as older (1993-1998) Catalina 36 MK II boats in our price range.

I prefer the Catalina but am not sure if it would be a bad decision to go with it as it is much older. Furthermore, the Beneteaus seem to have that cracking on the gel coat which concerns me.

My husband and I want to cruise for about 12 weeks out of the year and go on weekend trips so...

What does everyone think...newer beneteau 33 or older catalina 36??

depends on the condition of the boat. pay attention to the battery capacity and canvas and sail inventory if you want to cruise. solar panels are a good thing. there seem to be a million catalinas out there.
