Neptune 24

I'm a new owner of a 1978 Neptune 24. Does anyone have experience with cruising the coast on this boat?

Welcome aboard Bulldogsd! Do you have the shoal draft or fixed keel model? I have no experience with them but I have seen a photo of one out at the Channel Islands! Hope an owner chimes in for you.

Re: Neptune 24

I can only relay what I saw with a friend of mine who had an old Cal 24 with the swing keel, pretty similar to your boat. It was wet, got bounced around a good deal and the swing keel would clunk sometimes It is not my cup of tea, but he did sail it out to the Islands here and it can be pretty windy and choppy at times. Personally I think it is ok for coastal but reef early and pick your weather well.

Re: Neptune 24

It doesn’t have a swing keel, it has a dagger board. They are. Great coastal cruisers and are built like a tank compared to other boats in its size and class. I have extensive experience in coastal cruising in the Neptune 24. Let me know if you are any questions.
