Re: Need small outboard for Columbia 28

Ha! She simply refuses to flame out!! Maybe she needs a date. I knew a lady from Dunedin (sp? ) dun-e-din, she was an old flame of mine. That's pretty close to Tampa.

I know about carburetors since I'm 57! All us Redneck Poor White Trash Eastern Shore kids were car nuts back in the day. Anytime we had an engine problem the first thing we'd do is find an empty 2 lane black top and run our machine full throttle, pedal to the metal, etc until we thought we had fixed the problem or else crashed on dead man's curve

You know, that was just mean. I hope it made you feel like a big man.

I'm actually sorry. I was trying to make a joke and keep you in the loop. (but) maybe my perception is off. I just rode about 16 miles on my bike, loaded the boat, and had a few beers in the process.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to be mean................

Hey Blue Crab can you help me here? ....................I'm thinking this is your fault! Btw, I'm headed North tomorrow up the bay. I'm hoping when I near land I catch the high toid. ( that's Eastern Shore/ Tangier for tide)

Yep, I am the guilty party. I am easily annoyed; her tone is just not on my frequency. And vice versa.

She doesn't know what she doesn't know.

But it's the Internet.

I'm not the king of that.

Awesome, but of course it wasn't. Maybe I just better get on craigslist and find me a 1970's 2 stroke outboard instead of that the 2011 4 stroke I'm using now that has given me zero problems but might in the future.

Well, looks like it's breezin up. Must be time to get ready and go.

Well, you knew there'd be trouble down the line no matter what you have. I have a 3hp Merc 2 stroke for dink. Whisper light. On its 2 or 3rd life now but will run on a wing and a prayer. However, it's already illegal some places as you pointed out. I am ashamed to admit I used to be a treehugger but no more. We junk perfectly good old cars due to emission standards that the other 7 billion folks do not follow. Silly stuff.

Have a great weekend!

Re: Need small outboard for Columbia 28

I'm getting a 6hp tohatsu.

I noticed there is damage to the fiberglass in the front of the well where the bracket screws are tightened. Nice little circular shaped dent from all that pressure. Will probably just screw a 1/2" thick piece of marine plywood onto where the bracket screws will be torqued on.

Also getting a sculling oar to fit on the transom. Partly for the exercise. That should make the admirals turn their heads watching some guy rowing a 28 ft sailboat like a gondola in Venice!

I have the oarlock and socket. Waiting on the oar. Looking for a nice piece of mahogany to bed the socket into and glue onto the transom with 3m 5200. A sculling oar might come in handy some day. Redundant systems!
