Need help finding the right boat

I have been all over the map looking for a new boat, and finally almost bought a Sea Sprite 34 until the survey turned up a pile of problems So now I'm back to the drawing board but feel like I'm spinning in circles.

I love the looks and layout of the SS34 but am not 100% set on one. The cored hull is a detractor for me, and they are a bit more boat than I need. The looks can't be beat though (IMHO) and the U-shaped galley has huge appeal as I live aboard and love to cook/entertain.

Today I stumbled across the Downeaster 32. It seems to be exactly what I'm looking for down below (particularly this one!, but the cockpit appears to be tiny and cramped. I spend most of the summer in the cockpit, so that is a huge turn off. (Note, I haven't actually looked at one in person yet.)

My question here is whether anyone here can suggest any other boats with a similar cabin layout to the Downeaster 32, but with a larger cockpit? Or similar to the Sea Sprite 34, but a bit smaller

I currently sail and live aboard my Cape Dory 25 on Cape Cod, and am sooo ready for standing head room and an enclosed head.
