LOL yeah no one would mess with Travis about the name of his boat. Cool, glad I posted this thread. Got good recommendations for books, and some help with considering the name.

Re: Naming a boat Busted Flush after the Travis McGee series

Lol, I should have posted I had already decided on one over the weekend. I am going to keep it quiet for a lil while until the boat is delivered, hopefully memorial day weekend, and then we are going to have a little denaming and renaming ritual. I am not by nature supersitious, except for baseball and sailing.

Now that is hilarious! I decided the two boats in the same area with the same name would be lame, especially since I found out the guy with the The Busted Flush motor yacht here in NC will be at the marina next to me. So yeah that would be cheesy

Florida native here (Miami) and a long time reader of JDM. Until this thread, I had forgotten what great pleasure his books deliver.

Another old Florida children's book (1946) "The Lion's Paw" was the source of my boat's name. Our 3rd grade teacher read us the book in class many years ago. Always said I had the name 50 years before I had the boat on which to put it. Still a good read at least once a year ... a great book set in a time gone by.

Reading, one of life's great pleasures.

Hmmm The Lions Paw can't say I have ever heard of that one. I will have to check it out or see if a cheap copy is available online.
