Re: Moody overall quality?

Hi Cedarbrook,

The m44 is the pick of the crop of the '90's Moodys. No teak rail, shaft drive, huge inside. The last of them in the '95/6 model year have a better saloon layout. Tremendous potential for the money. Some aspects of maintenance will be a pain to access. Check out the rudder seal for leaks, stiff steering will mean new cables. I know a few people with these boats and they all love them.

Good advice!

Rudder seals and steering cables are weak points on different Moodys of this era.

Moody for some reason which is impossible to understand, used some utter carp laminated teak, for the rails, which falls apart. I am in the process of expensively replacing the forward part of mine.

Re: Moody overall quality?

What is the hull construction of the 39/40 from around 1980? Have heard these are solid hulls, not cored, but also heard they may be cored either above or below the w/l. thanks...

Re: Moody overall quality?

I do not know what they are but they are heavy which could suggest possibly a non cored hull.
