Moody 422 CC

I know they are fairly well built, but how do they sail?

Re: Moody 422 CC

I will "bump" this one more time and then give up. Can anyone provide feedback as to how these boats sail? How do they compare with a sloop or cutter rigged Pearson 422?

Re: Moody 422 CC

Never sailed the Moody but have a Pearson. By reputation they are a better sailor. Probably point a little better and just a bit faster but at the end of the day, probably not a dramatic difference,

Re: Moody 422 CC

Since your question is quite model specific and I presume you haven't bought it yet, you could ask on the Moody Owners Forum which has a section for propective buyers.

You will find the forum under "Info Exchange"

MOA Home Page

Regards Pete

Just finished sailing around the world in company with a 422cc. It was one of the slower boats on the rally (World ARC Welcome to World Cruising Club: World Arc ) but the minimum size for the rally was 40ft so it was not surprising. Then he bought a ParaSailor and went very quickly on this predominantly downwind event. Boat name was Thor VI.

Re: Moody 422 CC

Most Moody's will out sail a similar sized Pearson, Endeavor,Tayana, etc. as a general statement. They sail well. That's assuming good sails, crew etc. When we were out cruising we were faster than most other boats our size, but I'm sure having good sails and being an ex-racer helped. As an FYI my Moody 47 has a PHRF rating around 106 as I recall compare that to most other 47 ft. cruising boats and I'm 20+ sec/mi faster. Hope that helps... it's one of the reasons we bought her.
