That boat " Sailing yacht Eleonora E " has a draft of 17' so she is doing a bit of "cutting."

I wouldn't be too critical of deep draft boats, some areas it is an issue but most areas not. Get on one and sail to windward beside your typical cruiser or multi hull and you'll see the difference and its dramatic.

There's no advantage to deep draft persay, it's only to allow her to stand up to her sails. If you could do it from form stability that's much better. These today are inefficient boats with way too much wetted surface.

We have improved boating technology in 100 years. Well, duh! These are still fabulous boats to sail and you need to see them in relation to their time. Comparing to modern technology is not very relevant, nor very intelligent.

My comment was directed at Robert sailor , in reference to his comments about comparing them to modern designs and multi hulls. He suggested they were better. In truth modern designs are far more efficient
