Ours is a MarQuipt MarQuipt ... A Reputation for Quality,Â*Service, and Reliability that came with the boat. It is about 8 feet long. It folds in half & stores in the lazerette. Brackets at the gate lock it in place. It is expensive & a bit bulky but it is easy to climb and very stable.

That swing-up ladder on MIDNIGHT SNACK has a lot of appeal if it is solid. It would swing up if you forgot to pull it up.

We installed this one on off our side-deck. It's one of the best improvements we've made to the boat. It's telescoping, and stores completely out of the way on the side deck. It not only acts as a regular boarding ladder, but it can be released by someone floating in the water, so also doubles as an emergency ladder.

We just had one custom built that folds into 3 sections and can be attached to either side of our boat. It can be used as a boarding ladder at the dock or extended to reach the dinghy or dropped one more time for swimming access. So far we love it and it is far more space efficient than the huge folding teak ladder that came with our boat.

Midships is the right place to get on and off the boat if the sea is up.

We have a fold-down transom platform which is lovely when it's calm. But it becomes a death-trap with any waves, just waiting to bash you over the head and kill you.

Our boat came with a lovely stainless ladder which could be mounted either on the transom platform, to form a swim ladder, or midships, for boarding from a pontoon or from the dingy. Unfortunately, a crewman dropped it overboard in Weymouth Harbour a few years ago! I've had a new one made which I hope will be ready next week. 'Spensive!
